If the White Sox’ ugly three-game losing streak wasn’t enough to piss you off, our fave Adam LaRoche is back at it stirring up some more bullshit on a national stage. The dope who walked away from the $13 Million he could’ve earned for giving the organization six more months of work appeared on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ on Tuesday.
Of course, we don’t know all the details on what really happened. Maybe players made the request and KW was simply the messenger. Maybe KW actually handled the situation like a total dick and was the unwarranted one. We don’t know for sure, and I don’t think we ever will. What we do know is that LaRoche left a boatload of money on the table out of principle – a principle that just doesn’t seem that worth sticking to.
Trust me, I by no means want to get into the “LaRoche is a shitty/weird/unwise father” debate. It’s his family, so that’s not my place. But simply being asked to bring your son to work less (he wasn’t even asked to cut it off entirely at first!) should never have turned into a debate of whether the White Sox’ brass was forcing LaRoche to be a shitty father or walking away.
The team was his employer, so unless Williams busted down the doors to Camelback Ranch hammered drunk one morning and suddenly screamed at LaRoche to get Drake outta town, they by no means were forcing LaRoche into some ethical/family-oriented decision.
