On Halloween morning, White Sox beat reporter for MLB.com and friend of the site Scott Merkin reported that the team had exercised Matt Lindstrom's 2014 option.

The White Sox's 2014 payroll won't exactly be breaking the bank, so $4M is not too steep of a price to pay for a well-established back-end of the 'pen guy like Lindstrom.
In 2013, the 33 year-old Idaho native maintained a very solid 3.12 ERA with a 55.6% ground-ball rate. Though guys like Addison Reed and Nate Jones do now have plenty of big league experience under their belt, it's always good to have a rock-solid veteran down there in the 'pen with them.
Plus, if the White Sox are once again not in contention, they could certainly move him to a contender for a mid-level prospect while not being tied down to any substantial financial obligations.
Lindstrom will be 34 years old for the 2014 season.
