Coming in to this week’s series against Toronto, the White Sox were the hottest team in baseball. They’d won 14 out of their last 16 games, and looked to keep things rolling with what looked to be an easy chunk of schedule.
But as I said several times on Twitter, the Blue Jays are far from a bad team. They came into this mid-week series a couple of games over .500, and keep in mind they’ve done that while competing in the toughest division in all of baseball, the AL East.

Toronto’s solid starting rotation is spear headed by Ricky Romero and Brandon Morrow, the 2 guys that put the Sox down in these last couple of nights. We saw Morrow with the dominant 2-hitter, and while he did let up many hard hit balls, he was just better than us. He has the ability, as everyone around the league knows, to be unhittable. Fans should not be too mad at their team for last night’s performance.
And while many people don’t know it, Ricky Romero is a stud. Last season, he went 15-11 with a 2.92 ERA. Losses happen when you face good pitchers, and the Sox just happened to face two in a row.
So all in all, I am not concerned about the team losing this series. After such a great streak of success, you just have to hope they don’t fall completely in the opposite direction, which I don’t see the Sox doing.
Nonetheless, it’d be great to get a win behind Peavy in the last of the 3-game set. We know how much he loves to compete in big games, and he’ll be treating this start like one of those big ones.
Every team needs a stopper in the rotation, and it seems like the Sox have two in Sale and Peavy. If the Jakemeister is solid again tonight, it will just make us fans even more confident that the new Jake Peavy is here to stay.
