– Well, Gavin Floyd continues to be Gavin Floyd. His ERA is approaching six now, and it’s getting WAY too late in the year for that. He’s going to get more time than Humber, and deservingly so because he has somewhat of a track record. But man, this guy is brutal. As a fan, I can tolerate bad, but not bad because of lack of focus. That’s Gavin Floyd.
– The bullpen was fantastic tonight, which leads me to this: why are people saying we need to get bullpen arms at the deadline? In their current roles (aside from Ohman, who is bad in any role), everyone has been fantastic! Doesn’t everyone see that we need starting pitching more than anything else? Floyd and Humber are showing that!
– The offense wasn’t very good tonight, and they couldn’t really get anything going early in innings. I would’ve like to have seen them take a few more pitches and move up in the batter’s box to catch Westbrook’s sinker before it dropped so much. They were topping pitches all night and pounding them into the ground.
– Fun little pre-game nugget here: Addison Reed signed a ton of autographs…all with hit mitt on his head. He seems to be just like a little kid all the time, until he has the ball in the ninth inning.
– Busch Stadium was fantastic by the way, and I recommend everyone goes there if they get a chance. Next to PNC Park in Pittsburgh, it’s my favorite park I’ve visited (been to about half of them). However, while the ticket prices and parking prices are a bit cheaper, but food and merchandise were outrageous. It cost me $18.50 for a double cheeseburger, fries and a small coke. So, if you are going to go, eat before the game!
We got a GREAT matchup tomorrow night between Clayton Kershaw and Chris Sale. They could be the two best left handed pitchers in the game. Here’s to hoping the series in Los Angeles treats the Sox better than St. Louis.
