As of about 5:30 CST, there’s no set time for first pitch, which was supposed to be at 6:10 PM. Rain has been harsh throughout the last hour or two, and is expected to continue lightly until about 6:00. Stay tuned to our Twitter account, @Grab_Some_Bench for updates.

It’s Beer Vender bobblehead night at U.S. Cellular Field

Whenever we do get underway, it’ll be Gavin Floyd against Ervin Santana in a battle of erratic pitchers loaded with talent. While Gavin’s tough stretch is still overshadowing his season that really has been quite solid, he has been rather good of late.
Dating back to June 20th, Floyd is 4-2 including a tough loss last weekend in Texas. Given the recent success paired with the great stuff he can have any given night, there’s no reason to expect him to struggle this evening. The Angels lineup is rather tough though, so it’ll be hard for him to be lights out. Regardless of how well he’s throwing, it’ll be a battle tonight. In that respect, it should be fun to watch.
Angels’ starter Ervin Santana, on the other hand, has been anemic in 2012. Standing at 5-10 with a 5.97 ERA, Santana, who has had great success as recently as 2011, has not had any consistency of late. Check out his sporatic performances of late:

So in other words, this could be a pitchers duel, and it could be a shootout. It’s hard to tell with the two guys taking the mound. Nonetheless, the White Sox have a much better matchup on paper than they did last night, and they were able to steal that game from Zack Greinke behind Phil Humber.
The Sox go for the series win tonight once the storm finally passes. After the win of the walk-off variety, you know the team and all the fans will both have a great vibe and swagger to them, and a series win against the talented Angels would be a phenomenal result.
Hopefully Gavin can help us get that win tonight and take some pressure off of the rubber match on Sunday afternoon. Stay tuned after the game for Luke Stanczyk’s wrap including his initial thoughts and takeaways from the ball game.
